Cafetoer is a cycling companion app that shows points of interest along your GPX route. The app has no backend server, no user accounts, no analytics, and no advertising. Your personal data stays on your device.
Cafetoer does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Specifically:
Cafetoer requests location permission to show your position on the map during a ride and to update estimated arrival times in real time. Location data is used only on your device and is never transmitted to any server. Background location is used solely to keep tracking active while the screen is off during a ride.
GPX files you import are stored locally on your device. Route coordinates (latitude and longitude points sampled from your GPX route) are sent to third-party mapping services to find nearby points of interest and retrieve opening hours. These coordinates describe the planned route geometry, not your personal location or travel history.
Cafetoer communicates with the following external services to provide POI data and opening hours. Only route coordinates and POI locations are sent — never personal information:
All app data (imported routes, cached POIs, settings, and downloaded map tiles) is stored locally on your device using standard iOS file storage and UserDefaults. This data is included in your iCloud or iTunes backups if you have device backups enabled.
Cafetoer is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
